All employers are required by PUWER (Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations) to ensure that their staff are adequately trained, including those that supervise or manage the equipment.
ROUGH TERRAIN TELEHANDLER
This course will enable trainees to learn how to safely and efficiently operate a telescopic handler/variable reach rough terrain lift truck.
On completion of the course you will be familiar with the need to train and the statutory requirements.
Course Content:
- Rated capacities for stability and instability,
- Operating and site safety codes Machine and control familiarisation,
- Daily checks including refueling and simple maintenance,
- Steering
- Weight assessment
- Load handling
- Stacking and destacking procedures, along with stabilisers, leveling, travelling on site, vehicle loading and loading
Course Length:
- 1 day course for experienced users
- 2 day course for novice users
Upon successful assessment, trainees will receive Lantra certification.
FORKLIFT – MASTED, COUNTERBALANCED OR REACH
This course will enable trainees to learn how to safely and efficiently operate a conventional masted rough terrain forklift truck.
Course Content:
- Rated capacities for stability and instability
- Operating and site safety codes
- Machine and control familiarisation,
- Daily checks including refueling and simple maintenance
- Steering
- Load weight assessment,
- Load handling,
- Stacking and destacking procedures.
- Use of stabilisers/levelers,
- Loading towers and scaffolds,
- Traveling on site,
- Use and fitting of attachments
Course Length:
- 1 day course for experienced users
- 2 day course for novice users
Certification is through various accredited bodies - National Plant Operators Registration Scheme, BRITTOp or Lantra.
